There was no moment to give up. Only a moment to rise from my knees. The only thing that saved me was my children. They are my reason to keep moving forward.
Her Journey
Juliia's story
Juliia is raising six kids and runs private speech therapy sessions out of her home. A master's degree in Rehabilitation Therapy stands between her and the children's rehabilitation center she is determined to build.
When the full-scale invasion began and families around her fled, she made a different decision. She's raising six kids alone. Ukraine is their home. She was not leaving it.
She has spent her career working with children who need extra help. As a speech therapist and special education teacher, she works in both a school and a kindergarten. She volunteers with children from crisis-affected families. Several children come to her for private sessions each week. The work is not separate from who she is. It is who she is.
But one laptop shared between seven people meant that every online lesson she needed to teach, every course she needed to take, competed with her children's schoolwork. Her ability to grow was capped by a device. Hope Bravely provided her children with a tablet for their schoolwork, freeing the laptop for hers.
Juliia is now a master's degree student in Rehabilitation Therapy. With tuition for three semesters, she'll earn the credential that will open employment doors that are currently closed to her. She'll also be closer to her dream of a private rehabilitation center for children in her community.
